Thank you, ladli behena, kisan: Eknath Shinde after NDA landslide in Maharashtra

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed gratitude to the women and farmers of the state as trends indicated a landslide victory for the Mahayuti alliance in the Assembly elections. Highlighting the impact of his government’s welfare initiatives, including the ‘Ladli Bahin Yojana’, Eknath Shinde attributed the alliance’s success to the people’s trust in their governance.
“This is a landslide victory. I had said before that Mahayuti would get a thumping victory. I thank all sections of society. I also thank all the workers of the Mahayuti parties,” he said.
Election Commission trends show Mahayuti is leading in 218 seats in the 288-member Assembly, with the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) trailing far behind with a lead in 56 seats.
The BJP, leading in 124 seats in Maharashtra, has emerged as the dominant force within the Mahayuti alliance. This strong performance has sparked speculation about the state’s leadership, with many questioning whether Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is poised to reclaim the Chief Minister’s chair.
When asked who will be the next Chief Minister of the state, Eknath Shinde said, “Let the final results come in…Then, in the same way as we fought elections together, all three parties will sit together and take a decision (on who will be the chief minister).”
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde contested from the Kopri-Pachpakhadi Assembly constituency, a seat he has held since 2009. Trends show that he’s leading with a margin of over 45,000 votes.
His deputies Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar are leading in their respective constituencies as well. Devendra Fadnavis is leading in Nagpur South West while Ajit Pawar is leading in Baramati.
Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule is trailing in Kamthi, with trends showing Congress candidate Suresh Bhoyar leading with a margin of over 8,000 votes.
